👁️ Improving Care and Promoting Independence

for People Living with Sight Loss

Our recent webinar focused on how care homes and home care providers can better support individuals living with sight loss while maintaining independence, dignity and quality of life. Attendees explored common eye conditions, everyday challenges, effective communication approaches, simple environmental adaptations and person‑centred practices that enhance safety and wellbeing.

The session also included practical, real‑world examples that staff can apply immediately, along with a Q&A to address further questions and share experiences.

⭐ Skills f or Care Update:

New Roles Added to the Care Workforce Pathway

Following the recent celebration of the two‑year anniversary of the National Adult Social Care Workforce Strategy, we’re pleased to share that 10 new roles have now been added to the Care Workforce Pathway (CWP) after continued collaboration with sector stakeholders.

The pathway originally launched in January 2024 with eight roles: New to Care , Care or Support Worker , Enhanced Care Worker , Personal Assistant , Supervisor or Leader , Practice Leader , Deputy Manager and Registered Manager.

The pathway now includes 10 additional mapped roles, reflecting the breadth of skills and careers across adult social care:

Activity Coordinator
Care Technologist
Nominated Individual
Corporate Management
Learning & Development Practitioner
Quality Assurance Lead
Administrator
Catering
Domestic
Maintenance

Employers who have already adopted the pathway report:

more confident managers
clearer development routes for staff
more consistent appraisals
improved recruitment and retention
reduced workforce churn

Tools and resources to support organisations looking to adopt the pathway are available in the care workforce pathway section of the Skills for Care website .

🌞 Could you Benefit from Solar without Paying for the Installation?

T150 Energy is currently working with a funding partner to identify care sector organisations that may be suitable for a fully funded solar solution.

For eligible organisations, this could provide the benefits of solar energy without the upfront capital investment that would normally be required.
